What to do when you have a crash in your motorhome or caravan.

The worst has happened and you have had a bump in your beloved home from home!

Follow these simple steps to get you back on the road again.

1: Safety First Pull-over to a safe refuge if possible and alert the Emergency medical services if someone is injured and/or the Police, Fire Brigade and Highways Agency if your motorhome or caravan is immovable or in a potentially dangerous location and turn on your hazard lights

2: To quote Rudyard Kipling “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs.” Stay calm and composed and remember it’s not the end of the world!

3: Record the time of the incident and the registration numbers of any other vehicles which are also involved. Collect the contact details of the driver and make a note of how many passengers are involved.

4: Aim to seek any independent witness’s and their contact details.

5: Take photos on your phone if it’s safe to do so of the incident location and damage to yours and other vehicles including any relevant road markings and signs.

6: Call your insurance company as soon as possible who will advise of how best to recover your vehicle and what to do next. Have your policy number to hand.
