The worst has happened and you have had a bump in your beloved home from home!
Follow these simple steps to get you back on the road again.
- Safety First – Pull-over to a safe refuge if possible and alert the Emergency medical services if someone is injured and/or the Police, Fire Brigade and Highways Agency if your motorhome or caravan is immovable or in a potentially dangerous location and turn on your hazard lights
- To quote Rudyard Kipling “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs.” Stay calm and composed and remember it’s not the end of the world!
- Record the time of the incident and the registration numbers of any other vehicles which are also involved. Collect the contact details of the driver and make a note of how many passengers are involved.
- Aim to seek any independent witness’s and their contact details.
- Take photos on your phone if it’s safe to do so of the incident location and damage to yours and other vehicles including any relevant road markings and signs.
- Call your insurance company as soon as possible who will advise of how best to recover your vehicle and what to do next. Have your policy number to hand.
